State Representative Mike Unes (R-East Peoria) will be receiving the “Champion of Free Enterprise” Award on Friday, December 2 at the Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino. The presentation of the award will take place at 7:00 AM in the Hotel Ballroom during the Chamber’s monthly “Eggs and Issues” breakfast.
The award is given by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce to state legislators who received the highest ratings over the previous two General Assemblies and recognize the importance of free enterprise, as well as support legislation that will further economic and business opportunities.
“With Illinois’ lackluster economic performance, there has never been a more crucial moment for our state to embrace pro-business legislators who represent the business community and support the fundamental principles of the free market system. The Champions of Free Enterprise are exactly the types of lawmakers who will encourage investment in Illinois and help it become more competitive with other states. We appreciate Representatives Unes’ dedication to the good of all of Illinois,” said Todd Maisch, president and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
State Representative Mike Unes shares these values and principles about businesses and the Illinois economy.
“As someone who strives to maintain the best interest of local businesses in my role as a state legislator, I am very much honored to receive this recognition from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. I firmly believe that any initiative to improve the financial condition of our state must involve strong support for the local business economy. I have therefore been and will remain a strong proponent of the Illinois Chamber and its efforts, in addition to the efforts of the local Chambers that I represent,” said Unes.
